Originally when I started streaming AM 1710 on the internet, I had every intention of paying all of the streaming costs. That seemed realistic back in 2003 and 2004 when I started with just a dozen to 30 slots and even seemed possible when it grew to 400+. But the popular success of AM 1710 continued beyond my expectations for a streaming station. In mid-2005 I began allowing donations towards the cost of streaming since this service does not generate any revenue for MacinMind Software that I can detect. The costs of the material, hardware, and the time remain my personal contribution and joy. By listeners taking care of the cost of streaming it most certainly has freed me to purchase more material and hardware. I would like to say that AM 1710 is commercial-free but in fact there are those antique commercials in the shows. I'm not making anything on those :-) Streaming expenses were $2975.00 for 2006 and $3,757.50 for 2007 and both years were paid 100% by your donations. Truly remarkable! This year the estimated expense with the whole year at 700 connections is $3,780.00. And the monthly expense for streaming is now $315.00/month.
